Learn more about my approach, process and involvement with Montpelier High School here.
The students at the formerly named Colston’s Girls School had for many years petitioned for a name change, and in the wake of the BLM movement, and with support from the principal, the trust and governing body, Montpelier High School was born. My brief was to create a brand worthy of this significant change in the school’s history.
A collaborative approach was taken from the beginning, with workshops involving current students from various year groups, the principal, staff and members of the trust. All voices were listened to and helped inform the final identity, which focuses on the values the school holds, as well as its history and place in the community. My aim was always to honour the past which shaped the school, but very much look to the future.
External signage and uniform were the primary vehicles to deliver the new brand which launched in September 2021. I was also given the opportunity and freedom to create a graphic to visually illustrate the journey and importance behind the name change and identity, which sits in the foyer of the school.
